Fourth of July! Pa-ckow!

Who are we kidding?
I'm fairly lazy.

So it's the 4th of July, right? Pretty big day in the history of America. And I want to look cute. What says God Bless America better than a throwback to the good old pin-up days?
So I throw on this patriotic-inspired outfit, and make Josie take some backyard pictures of me before it gets too hot to resemble anything more attractive than a sweaty blob.
(Be prepared for some good old-fashioned narcissism. I'm also too lazy to edit these. Patriotic flowers in the background totally planned, btw.)


I was feeling pretty snarky at first. (aka beezy-like)


Then I started whining. I hate having my picture taking. I usually whine.


Then I got a little nutso.


And awkward (at least this one was on porpoise).


And finally got one semi-normal picture.


Then I went to a carnival/festival/celebration/hoopla (pictures to follow later), then a friends house where I totally bummed out on a BBQ to go home and change and take a nap.

Moral of the story: Kelly is a lazy bum.

Putting Color to Use!

"Try selecting a duo or trio of colors that work well together, and introduce one or more of them into your curtains, wall color or rugs." I think they just don't want one color to feel left out. Once you make the introductions, they'll be able to coordinate their own events.

Somehow Home Goods knows how much I love the outdoors and would like to bring my plant life inside (darn cats, eating and regurgitating our plants). If you can't find me, I might be standing in the middle of a circle of plants outside, feeling cozy.

My analysis:
Yes! This quiz is totally accurate for me! Especially the part about bringing historical objects and things from other cultures into my home.
Example:
Postcard I got for $0.25 of the Baroness of Lichtenstein and her daughter. History and culture combined. Plus a pinch of humor.

I also really struggle with branching out with color, so using just a few different ones is a good idea for me. Plus plants! I love plants! I also really really love unique pieces that absolutely no one else will have.

Cats, Cups, Closet Lesbians (not really) (seriously)

Since I've been so busy lately, I haven't really had too much time to take pictures. Thankfully, my parents bought me a surprise Ipad 2 for my graduation (whaaat), so here are a few things that have been happening.

Cricket graduated along with Josie and I! We're so proud of her.

(Not really. We just had to do something to make her stop moping. This is what she did when MY diploma arrived in the mail. She truly is the jealous baby of the family.)

Nevermind I'll just tell you now.
So Dana and I were telling someone how long we had been friends and I started to say, "We've been dating since-wait." Woops. Maybe it's time we put a little space in our relationship. Just a bit.

But really, we were friends even before we met (cue Savage Garden music here.)

Yikes Yikes Yikes

Things have been ca-raaaaaaazy! I've been starting a new job while still working at my last one and also pet/house-sitting. Basically put, I feel like I've been hit with a baseball bat. Man, I am tired from actually having to...like...you know...work or whatever.
So I'm grateful for this brief moment, with oatmeal in my belly, coffee in my hand, and a cat on my lap (and the Bachelorette on in the background. Whatever.) to just type out a short little update on things.

Remember that trip to Mexico we took a month and a half ago? I can't believe it's been that long already.
Well one of the days on the cruise, we docked in Puerto Vallarta. My family was really most looking forward to the Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton affair bridge, despite its nefarious history. Come to find out, no the world is not as celebrity obsessed as America! What a surprise. No one we asked had any idea what we were talking about when we asked for directions to the bridge.
Eventually we made our way there after wandering aimlessly for what felt like hours.
And this is what we found:


Yeah. That was it. Plus, it was "under construction", so once we got there, we weren't really even sure that was it. I don't even know if there are plans in the works to actually bring it back to its former glory, or if it's just trashed for good. One of the best parts about the U.S. being so concerned with celebrities is that things like this get preserved. What you can't see behind my mom, who took this picture, is a completely broken down wall with construction buckets and tools and exposed rebar and whatnot.
Not to be too overly dramatic, but I went expecting magic and found...dirt.
Then again, I also could have been dehydrated.

I have a bunch more pictures from Puerto that I want to post, but this particular one has gone on long enough, I think.

(and no, I'm not talking about the weirdsmobile in the van in the background. That's not fair. I don't know if he's a weirdsmobile. He could just be a guy who likes to hang out in vans in front of peoples' houses.)



Ignore the fact that I look ridiculous. I had literally just finished the 3 hr. process of buying him and bringing him home.

And yes, I did name him after Gus from Psych as an homage to his blueberry car. I think it fits him perfectly. Don't you?

Anyone else spend forever making their blog look super awesome yesterday only to have it destroyed by the evil blogger bot? Oh yeah. Fun times friends. Fun times.

Well, getting back from the cruise was pretty killer. I shuffled around for days trying to find someone to make my food and clean my room for me. After my mom refused to start doing that again, the harsh reality hit that I'm now responsible for like . . . you know. . . my own living again . . . or whatever.

So back to the grindstone! Spending 4 hours in the morning job hunting then maybe work or errands later. I know. It's a hardknock life. I've gotten back into that routine again, so time to get back to the fun stuff too! Blogging!

We took a couple hundred pictures on the cruise, so there will probably be a smattering of pictures throughout the next couple weeks. Today, we focus on outfits. This was our first ever cruise, presenting us with some packing conundrums. Sure, we'll be in Mexico, but also on the water. Does that mean warm clothes? Cool clothes? Will it be too hot for me to even consider dressing cute and I'll just want to lay around in a swim cover up so that if I sweat all over it, it doesn't even matter?

Ps did you notice how HUGE my new pictures are?? I've been so frustrated with Blogger's teeny tiny posting limitations so I did a little research and discovered that you can upload from Flickr! (I know most of you are saying, "Duh, you twit" right about now, but come on. I'm excited here.) Eee! I'm excited for picture posting now!

Hurray for being home!

. . . although I do feel a bit like I've just spent a week at camp and had to leave all my new friends behind, who I know I'll never see again, even though we've exchanged AIM screen names (you can tell how long it's been since I last went to camp). And by "new friends," I mean all the awesome people I totally would have met if I hadn't gotten sea sick. Bleh.

I'm going to keep this short. I plan to do all my picture editing and choosing for posting tomorrow. But since I did leave you over a week ago with a dress teaser, I'll wanted to give you a brief little zing of a preview for what's to come.
